As a faculty/staff person at Rutgers, you are a valued and trusted member of the community. Whether you are concerned about a student who has had a change in class attendance or quality of work, or a student trusts you by disclosing victimization to you, there are a number of things you can do to be helpful. There are also a number of legal obligations you have based on your role at the University.
Remember that you are in a unique position to positively impact a victim’s recovery by the way you respond. The staff at VPVA are available any time to talk with you about how you can be supportive and follow up with a victim who discloses to you. You can also refer victims to VPVA. If you would like additional information or support, please contact staff at VPVA by calling 848-932-1181.
