Lisa Smith is the Justice and Education Coordinator in the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in New Brunswick.  She began her work at Rutgers in February 2001 after serving as Director of Outreach Services for the YWCA of Eastern Union County New Jersey, Union County’s lead domestic violence agency.   Lisa has been working in the field of interpersonal violence for over 30 years and has conducted many speaking engagements and training sessions on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, diversity, and LGBTQ+ issues.  Lisa provided counseling and advocacy to survivors of interpersonal violence both at the YWCA and at VPVA.  As part of her current work at VPVA, Lisa helps to coordinate the Crisis Response Advocate program and works with students who have used violence.  Lisa is also an Instructor for the Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work and Department of Continuing Education.  She is a former member of the Board of Trustees for the NJ Coalition to End Domestic Violence.  She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Student Development from Radford University, and is certified as a Domestic Violence Specialist in the State of New Jersey.
