Equal Love, Equal Power

Equal Love, Equal Power is a group offered through the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (VPVA) at Rutgers, New Brunswick. This group is open to students who identify as being a part of the LGBTQ community who have experienced some form of interpersonal violence. All genders are welcome. In this group, we will discuss topics such as trust, building healthy relationships, and more.

Group therapy is a great option for individuals who find comfort in peer interaction. Groups include one or two counselors and other individuals facing similar issues. Group therapy provides individuals with a safe and non-judgmental place to be open and honest. Equal Love, Equal power will be led by VPVA counselor, Maddy Zijdel, and Masters in Social Work clinical intern, Brittany Sjaastad.

Equal Love, Equal Power meetings will be on Mondays afternoons at the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (3 Bartlett St., New Brunswick, College Avenue Campus) beginning in March 2020. Interested students need to schedule a pre-screening appointment. Start date and time will be provided once a student is confirmed as a participant.

Please contact us if you are interested in participating or if you have any questions.
